In the early developmental stages of life, a child merely reacts to what is happening around them. They don’t have a say in who they spend time with, what activities they engage in, where they go or how long they stay there. They are not actively and consciously involved in shaping their life story.

We start to choose.

Who we spend time with, words we use, books we read, shows we watch, friends we make … The list gets longer as we grow to become more and more independent.

The #ownyourstory campaign is set to excite young people to take ownership of their story. We believe it is especially during the Tween years that good decision making and responsible life choices are inspired.

I own it.

I get to choose. But there is another crucial element to bear in mind when considering our own stories…
